ROCIMA 363 Biocide is a dry film preservative for use in plasters, paints and wood coatings where permanent dry film protection is required on external surfaces subjected to severe weathering and on internal surfaces where high humidity is encountered.

This water-based dispersion exhibits broad-spectrum activity against algae and fungi which can destroy surface coatings. It possesses good flow and handling properties. It has low degree of water solubility, therefore offering good leaching resistance and long service time. It is compatible with high-density polyethylene (HDPE). Preventol® A 14-D is suitable for paints and coatings used for architectural products, finishes and special purpose coatings. Recommended dosage level is 0.15-2%. The shelf life is 12 months.

• ROCIMA 623 was especially developed as an in-can preservative for use in dispersed or emulsified aqueous systems. It can be added at any phase of production. It is, however, recommended to add the necessary amount of ROCIMA 623 at the very beginning of the manufacturing process, where the conditions during production allow this. ROCIMA 623 contains a combination of active substances, which provide a long term protection in the aqueous phase and an additional protection in the vapour phase. ROCIMA 623 is effective against bacteria (gram-positive and gram-negative) under aerobic or anaerobic conditions. It is also effective against yeasts and moulds commonly encountered in the described fields of application. The number of technical products in need of preservation is steadily increasing. Since it is impossible for a biocide supplier to check compatibility with all materials used in individual formulations, preliminary tests to check compatibility of ROCIMA 623 with the specific product are always necessary. ROCIMA 623 complies with several food contact legislations of the European Union and of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) of the USA. For specific information please ask your local Rohm and Haas contact or liaise with our Product Integrity Department. Dosage The necessary dosage rate of ROCIMA 623 depends upon the degree of contamination of the raw materials and upon the susceptibility of the product to be preserved. Degree of contamination and susceptibility can fluctuate seasonally. A periodical determination of germ counts helps considerably in choosing the optimum dosage rate.

Non oxidising biocides function by altering the permeability of the cell wall of microbes thereby interfering with vital life processes. Non oxidising biocides are more selective than
oxidising biocides in that they are more effective against one type of microbe. Non oxidising biocides have a slower reaction time than the oxidising biocides. Therefore for these biocides
to perform effective microbial kills, a prolonged contact time between biocide and microorganism is required. Since non oxidising biocides may only be active against specific
organisms, blends of two or three non oxidising biocides can be formulated into a single product to afford full cover against microbial action. Some microorganisms may be able to
